My flight for Ireland takes off during the sunset on the longest day of the year. The sun is bright and hot through the window and the flight attendant gently asks us all to close our windows so that we won't wake up during the sunrise on the other side. It ends up being the hottest week Ireland has had in forty years, and the roads start to melt, and the bath water tastes faintly of iron and also of blood.
